Why Home Staging Works

Every day our team of talented property stylists transform client’s homes and vacant properties. It often feels like a dream – sure it can be a sweaty and exhausting challenge some days, but at the end of the day we know we are providing an invaluable service to home owners.

As you might guess, we are a little biased about the importance of home staging, but our voices aren’t the only ones singing out about staging.

Our trusted realtor colleagues agree with us too. Realtors have the knowledge and experience to know how much easier it is to sell a staged property over an empty or un-staged space. We get their calls every day to come and tour a property and meet the sellers because staging works. According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR) “2015 Profile of Home Staging”, buyers’ realtors reported that 81% of their clients felt that staging helped them to imagine the property they were viewing as a future home. It makes sense. Through staging we are subtly marketing the property, balancing eye-catching décor with showcasing the architectural features of the home.

In 2015 we all use the Internet to research our next important purchase, whether that’s a new item of clothing, vacation or home. According to a Google/National Association of Realtors (NAR) report – 92% of homebuyers use the Internet first during their home search. As they scroll through countless listings, you know that staged properties will quickly pop from the screen. It would be unwise to list an un-staged property in busy markets (or any other), because you can bet that most of the listings in these areas are staged. You would be setting yourself up for a longer listing time and lower selling price.

This leads us to the key reason our clients choose us to stage their property. We use our professional touch to help sell it. Clients are overwhelmed with their busy lives and forget how amazing their homes are underneath the clutter. When we’re done we hear “I wish we had hired you sooner – we had no idea our home could look this amazing!”

As we like to say, letting an un-staged home hit the market is like throwing sweatpants on to go to a wedding; rushed, a little sloppy and very ill-advised. With staging, you let us be in charge of your home’s all-important first impression!
